Which culture or sub-culture did you grow up in? More Traditional Indigenous, Traditional Mexican, Chicano/Lowrider, Reservation, or More American-esque? Or a different culture/sub-culture?
I would say more traditional Mexican!
What are your favorite parts of that culture and community?
FOOOOOD. Family. Music. Language. VIBRANCY! We’re always ready to dance!
How did growing up in that culture effect your current style, and point of view of life?
This is a loaded question! As far as style, growing up Mexican gave me the space to find the vibrancy in my clothing. The long skirts and ruffled tops remind me of beautiful Medicine Women! I believe our perspectives are absolutely directly tied to our movement in life. I honor community because that’s how my family raised me to be!
As an adult now, have you learned about other Indigenous or Mexican sub-cultures?
In general, yes! The more I get to know myself, the more I explore the embodiment of my fullest expression!
What are your favorite parts of that culture and community?
STYLE! TRADITION!
How has it effected your style and point of view of life now?
More so it has broadened my perspective.
